Evangelism is the engine that drives the Seventh-day Adventist Church. It is our mission, our reason to exist, our great privilege and passion. Everything we do as a Church centers on and supports evangelism. Our health system, our schools, our publishing houses, the various levels of our church organization, and each of our local churches around the world - the entire Church is here to evangelize.
Our English word evangelism comes to us from a New Testament Greek word conveying the meaning of "a messenger of good news."
Those who bring bad news may sometimes say, "Don't stone the messenger," meaning "I'm not the source of the bad news, so don't hold it against me - I'm just the one telling it." But as Seventh-day Adventists, we are the evangelists, the messengers of good news -- the most wonderful new it's possible to announce to others. The good news we share? The Gospel of Jesus Christ: His pardon, His power, His truth, His love - His salvation.
